Actor John Travolta made a pit stop at the Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport late Monday night.

Airport spokesman Michael Jones spoke with Action 4 News about the celebrity sighting.

Jones said Travolta flew into the Brownsville airport aboard a private charter.

Although Travolta is a licensed pilot, Jones said they are not sure the Hollywood actor flew in his own plane.

A flight plan was not immediately available but Jones said Travolta went through a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspection station at the airport.

Jones says many celebrities stop at the Brownsville airport on flights from Latin America because it is the only 24 hours customs inspection station along this part of the U.S./Mexico border.

“We just don’t know about it, because it happens discretely,” Jones said.

CBP spokesman Eddie Perez told Action 4 News that McAllen, Harlingen and Weslaco all have customs inspection stations but Brownsville is often the first port of entry for many air travelers coming in from Latin America.
