At least 18 illegal immigrants from Guatemala have been rescued after receiving a tip that they were being held for ransom.
Mission police told Action 4 News that people in Guatemala called reporting that their family member was being held against their will.
They traced the call to a cell phone coming out of a home on the 5800 block of Moorefield Road.
Mission police, Border Patrol and Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies showed up around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
They found 18 undocumented immigrants from Guatemala inside.
