A Weslaco meat market may have a new name but the location continues to rack up high demerits on health reports.
RC’s on 135 South Bridge Avenue scored 28 demerits.
The business was formerly known as Tijerina’s, a low performer as well on Food 4 Thought.
Health inspectors found improper hygiene practices with food handlers not wearing hairnets, expired products, a cross contamination of raw pork and chicken along with insect contamination.
It was the worst inspection score at the location.
Tijerina’s scored 26 demerits last October.
But even more troubling then the number of violations was the owner’s response to basic questions from the Food Patrol.
Topping the list was whether or not owner Martha Rios knew if things had been cleaned up?
