Mission police have confirmed that a child was hit by a car near Castro Elementary School.

It all happened off South Mayberry Street just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators told Action 4 news that the elementary-age student was walking across the street at a school crossing when a car hit him.

His arm and leg were injured in the accident but authorities said the injuries were not life-threatening and that he's expected to recover.

Investiagators said the driver is complying with police while the accident remains under investigation.
