Edinburg police are releasing more details about a weekend murder.

Police said they were dispatched to the 2500 block of Annette Avenue about a neighbor dispute.

Witnesses reportedly told police that the suspect Carlos Ochoa had arrived intoxicated and armed to a neighbor gathering uninvited.

He was reportedly kicked out of the gathering and his friend and neighbor Alberto Trevino escorted Ochoa back to his home on the 2800 block of Kelly Drive.

“He did proceed to shoot Mr. Trevino once in the back of the head and then he held the female against her will and was refusing to allow her to leave as he was threatening to kill her as well," said Lt. Oscar Trevino, spokesman with Edinburg P.D. "This is when the officers arrived and knocked on the front door. Mr. Ochoa was distracted. At that point, she took the opportunity to run out of the house and ask for help."

Ochoa was charged with murder, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint.

His bond was set at $755,000.
