Fatal accident reported outside Port Mansfield

A South Padre Island man is dead following a late Sunday night accident west of Port Mansfield.

It all happened on State Highway 186 west of Port Mansfield around 11:10 p.m. Sunday.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers told Action 4 News that Jarryd Dane Elliff was behind the wheel of a 2007 Dodge pickup truck.

State troopers said the 21-year-old South Padre Island man was headed east when his truck hit a guard rail.

The truck veered to the right and into a canal and then hit a tree and flipped over.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
