Armed men rob credit union in Weslaco

Authorities are search for armed men who reportedly robbed a credit union in Weslaco.

It all happened at the La Joya Area Federal Credit Union off West Llano Grande Street on Friday afternoon.

Armed men allegedly robbed the bank and left with an unknown amount of cash.

Carjacking

Investigators told Action 4 News that the two suspects carjacked a maroon Ford Expedition minutes before the bank robbery.

The men took the SUV from two woman outside their Hackberry Avenue home.

Police believe the men drove the stolen Ford Expedition to the credit and robbed it.

The two men entered the bank, displayed handguns and ordered the employees to turn over cash.

Abandoned SUV

The men fled north on Cedro Street but abandoned the stolen SUV at an alley off Liberty and Huisache streets.

The robbers were nowhere to be found

Investigators report that nobody was harmed in neither the carjacking nor the bank robbery. 
 
        
Suspect Description

Weslaco police describe the two suspects as:

Two Hispanic Males
Late 20’s to early 30’s
5 feet 6 inches tall
Wearing hoodies (one blue, one red)
Baggy pants

Anyone with information about the two crimes is asked to call Weslaco Crime Stoppers at (956) 968-TIPS or (956) 968-8477.
