Residents sift through damage of McAllen apartment complex fire

Residents are spending Labor Day sifting through the damage of a massive fire that quickly spread through a McAllen apartment complex.

It all happened at an apartment complex at 1212 E. Dallas Ave in McAllen around 5 a.m. Sunday.

The blaze gutted the apartment complex sending 17 people to the hospital and forcing 100 residents to evacuate.

Parts of the apartment complex remain closed while authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

Residents are sifting through the damages trying to salvage their belongings.

Action 4 News will post more information as it becomes available.
