What started as an argument between two students ended with one of them firing a single gunshot into the air and being arrested.

It all happened at McAllen’s Nikki Rowe High School late Thursday afternoon.

McAllen Independent School District officials said no was injured but the gun-toting teen is now facing four third-degree felony charges.

Investigators said the teen is charged with displaying a weapon, unlawful possession of a hand gun, deadly conduct, and possession of a weapon where they are prohibited.

Officials said the incident happened just after classes let out yesterday.

They said the suspect's ongoing feud with another teen is what sparked the shooting.

The suspect was arrested and remains in the Hidalgo County Juvenile Detention Center.

McAllen ISD spokesman Mark May said extra security has been placed on campus and will remain there until the end of next week.

He said there has been no impact on attendance at Rowe High School.

May said that the district is providing counseling for those students who believe they need it.

McAllen ISD police are continuing to investigate the case.
