Flights have been suspended at McAllen airport after a Friday afternoon accident involving private plane on the runway.

It all happened at McAllen Miller International Airport around 3 p.m. Friday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the twin-engine plane blew a tire and damaged its nose while landing.

The two-person private plane from Mexico veered off the runway.

Neither the pilot nor his/her passenger was injured during the accident.

Depatures and arrivals are being delayed while authorities investigate and clear the runway.

Authorities estimate the clean up should take about 30 minutes.

Airport officials report that two flights have already been delayed.

Passengers are asked to check with their airlines for more information about possible flight delays.

The private plane accident is the second one in two days time at the McAllen airport.

A private plane carrying five people skidded on the runway during landing gear malfunction on Wednesday.

Nobody was injured during the Wednesday accident.

Action 4 News will post more information as it becomes available.
