A Weslaco taqueria was shutdown for excessive roaches in the kitchen.
Taqueria Molcas on 1525 North Texas Boulevard remained closed for 24 hours because of the infestation.
A series of public complaints led to the city action against the restaurant.
In one instance, a citizen alleged roaches turned up inside beans and a glass of water, according to a complaint report.
Another person turned to the health department after witnessing 3 roaches crawling on the table, a report stated.
The Food Patrol confronted workers about the health concerns that surround insect contamination of this magnitude.
One person behind the counter at the taqueria claimed the roaches were planted in an attempt to get free food.
