Authorities have released mugshots and the identities of a couple whose car crashed into the Weslaco Police Department building during a botched beer run.

It all started at the Stripes convenience store off Mile 9 and FM 1015 over the weekend.

Weslaco police arrested 21-year-old Samantha Jo Rodriguez on evading arrest and DWI charges.

Investigators said 18-year-old Gustavo Hernandez Jr. was charged with Class C misdemeanor theft and evading arrest on foot.

Police reported that Hernandez stole the beer while Rodriguez was driving.

A patrol officer reportedly clocked Rodriguez going 57 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.

Rodriguez reportedly drove through the Weslaco Police Department parking lot, lost control and crashed into the building leaving a gaping hole.

The 21-year-old was taken to Knapp Medical Center as a precaution but later released to police custody.

Both of them appeared before a Weslaco municipal court judge where Rodriguez was issued $3,500 dollars in bonds and Hernandez got $2,000 dollars in bonds.
