New details have emerged in an officer-involved shooting in Brownsville following formal charges being filed against the suspect.

Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged 40-year-old Frank Long Jr. on multiple charges on Friday.

Long is accused of leading authorities on a June 27th chase that ended with a two car crashes and him being shot by a Brownsville police officer.

Court records released in the case on Monday show that Long admitted to being drunk and under the influence of cocaine during the incident.

Long told deputies that he didn’t want to stop because he didn’t want to get a DWI but ended up crashing into a fence off Paso Real Street.

Brownsville Police Officer Luis Nino fired at Long and his Ford F-150 when Long allegedly tried to flee and run the Officer Nino over.

Long told deputies that he heard a loud pop, felt a burning sensation in his stomach and crashed into another fence.

Jail records show that Long is facing two counts of aggravated assault of a public servant and evading arrest with a motor vehicle charges.

Long appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Luis Saenz on Friday morning where he was issued $600,000 dollars in bonds.

Court records show that Long has a criminal history going back to August 1994 and includes resisting arrest and aggravated assault charges.
