A Cameron County mother is behind bars after her children were allegedly found wandering the streets in search of food.
Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested 26-year-old Milda Soto on child abandonment charges on Wednesday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that her two children were found walking a rural road between Laguna Vista and Bayview.
Soto was reportedly asleep and the two children were reportedly left home to look for something to eat.
The 26-year-old mother is expected to appear before a judge at the Cameron County jail on Thursday morning.
Public records show that Soto's last known address was listed as off Lakewood Drive in Laguna Vista.
