Another alleged member of the Zetas drug cartel has been arrested for participating in the kidnapping and murder of bus passengers traveling through San Fernando, Tamaulipas.

Mexico’s Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) reported that soldiers arrested Abraham Barrios-Caporal (aka “Erasmo”) in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz on Tuesday.

SEDENA officials reported that Barrios-Caporal and three members of his criminal cell were all arrested together.

The four men had a kidnapping victim with them as well as two assault rifles and two handguns.

Barrios-Caporal told investigators that he was working under the orders of Salvador Alfonso Martinez-Escobedo (aka “La Ardilla”).

The alleged Zetas member told authorities that he and other stopped passenger buses traveling through San Fernando looking for members of their former ally the Gulf Cartel.

Barrios-Caporal told investigators that he and others left San Fernando to avoid being arrested.

A total of 193 bodies have been discovered in a series of mass graves in and around San Fernando since April.

So far, only 18 out of the 193 bodies have been identified and returned to family members.

Dozens of suspects have been arrested for participating in the massacre.
