A 13-year-old boy is dead after being found in a backyard pool.

Family members said they found Izik Rodriguez  unconscious outside his aunt's home on Tallowood Circle in Brownsville Friday afternoon.

The Brownsville Fire Department was the first on scene and said the boy was not breathing when they transported him to Valley Regional Medical Center.

That's where he was reportedly pronounced dead.

The fire department said the boy may have injured himself when jumping into the pool.

An autopsy is underway.

His aunt told Action 4 News the family cannot cover funeral expenses and would appreciate any help from the community.

People who wish to help the family call 956-832-0555 or email Gloria and Juan Gonzalez at gudino@yahoo.com.
