Man with distinctive tattoos identified as robbery spree suspect

Authorities are looking for a man with distinct tattoos who they say has been linked to several armed robberies on the city's westside.

Brownsville police said 28-year-old Nestor Plata has been positively identified by five victims.

They told police that Plata threatened the to hurt them if they didn't comply with his demands.

Investigators said Plata would at times tell the victim he had a gun or show them the weapon.

The incidents happened near Oliveira Park off the 100 block of El Paso Road.

Plata is described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds.

Police said has a tattoo of a star on his left temple and a tattoo of red lips on his left side of the neck.

Plata is considered to be armed and dangerous, so you are urged not to approach him.

Court records show that Plata has previous arrests for aggravated robbery and marijuana.
