McAllen police report 91 pieces of jewelry and watches stolen during a robbery at La Plaza Mall's Deutsch & Deutsch jewelry store were recovered south of Waco.

According to McAllen police, a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state trooper conducted a routine traffic stop off Interstate 35 south of Waco around 8 p.m. Monday.

While talking to the driver, the trooper noticed a backpack in the backseat.

The state trooper asked to look inside and that’s when he found the watches and jewelry.

Roland Sanchez and Marcus Ramirez told the trooper the watches and jewelry were counterfeit.

That reportedly prompted the trooper to arrest and charge them with possessing counterfeit items.

The two men bonded out and were released.

It was later discovered the jewelry and watches were those stolen from McAllen.

Police believe the men were involved in the robbery..

They continue to search for two more suspects.
