Music by pop star Beyoncé took over schools across the United States on Tuesday afternoon.

Students at Harlingen’s Memorial Middle School  couldn’t be happier about it.

About 100 students gathered at Boggus Stadium to participate in a nationwide exercise program named “Let’s Move!”

The program, sponsored by First Lady Michelle Obama, aims to get the nation’s youth to think about exercise.

Memorial eighth grader Hailey Ponce said she enjoyed it.

"It’s just really fun and it's a good way to get fit and I really had fun doing it,” Ponce said.

Eighth grader Fidencio Gonzalez agreed.

"It was fun just to come out and dance and of course to see other people that I barely even talk to see that they can move,” Gonzalez said.

Both Ponce and Gonzalez led more than 100 classmates during a flash mob at Boggus Stadium.

They were among 620 middle school throughout the country participating.

But of course, it’s a school, so there's a lesson involved.

"This was a national campaign to get students moving and eating right,” said Harlingen CISD spokesman Shane Strubhart.

Step by step and one song at a time, Strubhard said Harlingen CISD didn't think twice about stepping into this program.

"It's extremely important especially with the rate of obesity as high as it is...diabetes as well,” he said. “It’s very important with our students to stay healthy."
