Suspect identified in fatal Harlingen stabbing

Authorities are looking for an Edinburg man who has been named as a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man in Harlingen.

Harlingen police said 27-year-old Ernesto Alonso Garcia is a suspect in the death of 27-year-old Ivan Rodriguez.

Both Ivan and his brother Jaime Rodriguez were stabbed by two men off Sunset Drive earlier this month.

The two brothers were rushed to a hospital but Ivan died.

Witnesses said two men were seen leaving the scene of the crime in a gray or brown Trans Am or similar vehicle.

Harlingen police reported on Tuesday that Garcia has been named as one of the suspects in the fatal stabbing.

A motive is not clear but the 27-year-old Edinburg man is facing arrest warrants for murder and aggravated assault.

Garcia is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is known to drive a gray 2000 Pontiac Firebird with Texas license plates Z45-LHZ and has the named "Garcia" tattoed on his back.
