A 21-year-old Las Milpas man vanished on a seemingly busy street in Pharr.

"We just want to find him," Manuela Ponce said.

The family of Jesus ‘Chuy’ Reyes has been camped out near a canal in Pharr for the past two days.

Each one took a turn walking up and down the canal near South Jackson and Ridge Road searching for any signs of Reyes.

"They're looking real hard for him," Yvonne Rivera said.

Reyes’ mother, Manuela Ponce, said Pharr Police have come to help them.

The department even brought in scuba divers to search the waters of the canal but did not find any sign of her son.

Ponce said, in fact, she was the one who found his cell phone and shoes lying on the bank of the canal.

"We were out looking for him and my husband happened to turn around and see Jesus' cell phone,” Ponce said.  “We looked a little farther down and saw his shoes. I'm really worried about him."

Yvonne Rivera is a family friend. She said when she heard that Reyes was missing she immediately took to the social network Facebook.

She said she posted a picture of Reyes on Facebook and a message letting people know he was missing.

"Right now I'm updating my Facebook status,” Rivera said. “I know that everybody visits these sights and someone has to know something. This is another way of searching out there for him."

The status updates Rivera has been posting have yet to generate any new leads, but Rivera is optimistic something will turn up.

Action 4 News is told a body was recovered on Tuesday evening in the canal where Reyes was last seen.

Pharr police told us they have not yet identified the victim.
