During ICE agent Jaime Zapata's funeral procession, the public came out to show their support by lining the streets of Brownsville.

It's not every day that you see dozens of Border Patrol, ICE and local city vehicles escorting a funeral procession.

The sound of sirens had people running out of their homes to see the motorcade.

As ICE agent Jaime Zapata's body was escorted to the Brownsville Events Center, people gathered on Paredes Line road to show their support for the fallen agent.

"It's really rough what happened," said Iselda Pompa, who was watching the procession.

The Brownsville native was killed in the line of duty south of the border in San Luis Potosi.

"I think it's bad cause I guess he was trying to protect over here the citizens, and he got killed in the line of duty pero pues it happens and I'm sorry and hopefully they can stop all the violence over there," said Alex Arambul who watched the procession.

It's the growing violence in Mexico that has many Valley residents upset that its latest casualty is one their own.

The procession started from Buena Vista Funeral Home to the Brownsville Events Center where the viewing and rosary will take place this week.

"It's so sad but this farewell is so beautiful and respectful," said Pompa.

It's here where hundreds are expected to pay their final respects to this local hero in the coming days.

As the motorcade made its way to the event center, several people rushed outside to take a look at the procession.
