Nuevo Laredo’s recently-appointed police chief has been found dead next to four bodyguards, who were also shot.

Mexico’s El Universal reported Ex-General Manuel Farfan-Carriola has been assassinated.

El Universal reported it all happened on Calles Venezuela and Plutarco Elias late Wednesday night.

At this time, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made in the case.

Farfan-Carriola was one of several ex-military officials appointed as police chiefs in cities across the State of Tamaulipas.

According to VALLEYCENTRAL.COM archives, Farfan-Carriola is the second police chief to be assassinated in Nuevo Laredo in the past six years.
