FUGITIVE FINDER - Weslaco Capital Murder Suspects

Weslaco police are on the hunt for two men charged with capital murder.

Both Jose Antonio Sanchez Zapata and Jose Isaias Zapata Gonzalez are wanted for the murder of Roberto Castro, a 14-year-old boy who was fatally shot in the chest on August 23, 2008, at Murphy USA. 

Police say at about 7:30 p.m. that night on at Murphy USA gas pumps, near the Wal-Mart Super Center, a 14-year-old boy was shot once in the chest as his parents looked on.

The family had stopped at the gas pumps and had spotted what they thought was their Dodge Ram 4-door pick up truck which has been stolen from a Stripes convenience store.

As the boy and his father attempted to talk to the occupants of the Dodge pickup, one was shot was fired through the passenger side window, striking the boy.

The truck immediately left the scene, last seen headed west on the frontage road toward Donna. 

Suspect Jose Antonio Sanchez Zapata also known as “Tony Loco” is a Hispanic male, stands 5 ft, 7in, with black hair and brown eyes.

Suspect Jose Isaias Zapata Gonzalez also known as “Guero” is a Hispanic male, stands 5ft, 7 in.
