New Year's Day shooting suspect faces judge in Brownsville

A man and 12-year-old boy continue to recover after a shooting New Year's morning.

The alleged shooter faced a judge Sunday morning on multiple charges, including seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say 21-year-old Michael Ruiz fired a gun at a group of people around 4:00 a.m. on New Year's Day.

It reportedly happened at a home on Granjeno Street.

The boy and man were reportedly treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

Ruiz remains behind bars in the Cameron County Jail under $219,000 dollars in bonds.
