A federal judge has denied two requests to postpone the sentencing of six former officials with the PSJA Independent School District.

The sentencing is expected to take place before U.S. District Court Judge Ricardo Hinojosa in McAllen on Monday, November 29th.

Both Rogelio Roy Rodriguez and Evangelina "Vangie" De Leon had recently filed requests to postpone the sentencing in their cases.

Action 4 News reviewed court records and learned that sentencing for the case has been postponed six times since May 2009.

According to court records released Friday, Judge Hinojosa denied the requests by Rodrgiuez and De Leon to postpone their sentencing.

The six former PSJA school board officials could face up to 20 years in federal prison.

Former Superintendent Arturo Guajardo recently filed a request asking Judge Hinojosa to give him probation for his role in the case.

Guajardo's request was accompanied by a resume, newspaper clips and 12 letters of support, including some from several public officials from across the Rio Grande Valley.

Court records show that Judge Hinojosa has not formally responded to Guajardo's request. Judge Hinojosa is expected to announce his response at the sentencing.
