Tropical Storm Richard is dumping rain over Guatemala today.

The forecast still calls for the storm to move towards the western end of the Gulf of Mexico by mid week, most likely as a tropical depression.

A cold front will move through the Rio Grande Valley Thursday, acting like a shield.

The front is expected to block Richard from making it to the Valley, keeping it in the gulf.

Tropical moisture will combine with the cold front to enhance shower possibilities across deep South Texas on Thursday.

Temperatures will fall a few degrees into the eighties by Thursday afternoon.
