A Harlingen man is behind bars after he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl.
Harlingen police arrested 27-year-old Jesus Gonzalez on a sexual assault of a child charge Tuesday night.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the incident started following a disturbance on the 16000 block of Orange Drive on the city’s northwest side.
A 31-year-old woman told officers her 15-year-old daughter had been missing for two hours.
The 15-year-old girl later told officers she had been sexually assaulted by Gonzalez
Harlingen Police Sgt. John Parrish told Action 4 News that detectives are still investigating how the Gonzalez met the girl.
Officers arrested Gonzalez at the scene and charged him with sexual assault of a child.
The 27-year-old Harlingen man appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Thursday morning where he was issued a $20,000 dollar bond.
