Hurricane Alex has come and gone but "narcoviolence" continues to plague the City of Reynosa.

City officials reported that a "situation of risk" took place in two neighborhoods in Reynosa's northwestside late Thursday night.

Details were not immediately available but officials confirmed the incident took place on the Colonia Olmo and Fraccionamiento Arboledas around 11:26 p.m. Thursday.

The two adjacent neighborhoods are located in an area between the highways to Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo.

Reynosa city officials had reported the incident had ended by 12:59 a.m. Friday.

Mexican Army officials reported that one of the patrols came under fire at the Carretera Ribereña to Nuevo Laredo at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Two gunmen were killed and two soldiers were wounded in the incident.

Authorities seized two assault rifles, ammunition, four vehicles and 18 American-style military uniforms following the shootout.
