Action 4 News has confirmed that actor/director Mel Gibson is in Brownsville where he is filming a movie that is expected to be released in 2011.

Sources told Action 4 News that Gibson is in the area to film a movie entitled "How I Spent My Summer Vacation."

According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), the film is written by and stars Gibson but is directed by Adrian Grunberg.

A synopsis posted on IMDB shows that Gibson plays career criminal nabbed by Mexican authorities is placed in a tough prison where he learns to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy.

Action 4 News learned that Gibson's character spends time in a prison in Veracruz and then crosses an international bridge and realizes that his friends are nowhere to be found.

The 54-year-old actor won two Academy Awards for his movie "Braveheart" back in 1996.

Action 4 News is at the location of where Gibson is filming the movie and will bring back more information.
