It was grand homecoming for three local young women as they traveled thousands of miles back home to Harlingen from Peru.
Princess Zambrano, sister Bianca Zambrano and Priscilla Maldonado have spent the last seven months as missionaries.
Thursday evening the Zambrano and Maldonado families welcomed home their loved ones.
It was a long journey, Princess Zambrano tells Action 4 News, "It was amazing it's a really eye opening experience."
Bianca Zambrano says, "It was an unforgettable experience.."
The young women spent their days at a shelter caring for abused girls.
Princess Zambrano says, "I was in charge of the primary girls who are elementary aged level, was in charge of their tutoring and supervision at school."
The mission was part of the People of Peru Project.
While this trip was the ladies longest mission trip, they say it won't be their last.
For now they're looking forward to the comforts home has to offer.
Priscilla Maldonado says, "Warm hot water, the food of our parents, the food of our moms."
They will also spend quality time with family, getting to know the newest addition, their cousin two month old Jose Rafael.
The ladies parents tell Action 4 News they are so happy to have their children back home safe and also very proud.
