Reynosa city officials are warning area residents from going to the neighboring city of Rio Bravo following a possible shootout.
The city first reported "an incident involving risk" on its Twitter account between 3 and 6 p.m. Thursday.
Officials reported the incident was located on the Reynosa-Rio Bravo highway just right before Rio Bravo city limits.
Authorities closed the highway and urged residents to avoid the area until further notice has been given.
Everything returned to normal around 6 p.m. Thursday.
Reynosa city officials have started using Twitter to inform the public about dangerous situations.
This is the fourth shootout in three days for Reynosa as part of ongoing violence between drug cartels escalates as well as their confrontations with the military.
Tamaulipas state officials reported that three people were killed in the violence on Wednesday.
A woman was injured in a shootout near a supermarket on Tuesday.
