A young couple is behind bars after police allegedly them passed out in their car with the engine on and their baby in the front seat.
San Benito police told Action 4 News the incident happened on the 200 block of East Stenger Road around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police officers allegedly found 24-year-old Ernesto Treviño and his 16-year-old girlfriend asleep with their 11-month-old baby in the girl's lap.
Investigators told Action 4 News that they found 9 grams of cocaine, some marijuana and some ecstasy and xanax pills in the car.
Police arrested both Treviño and his 16-year-old girlfriend child endangerment and drug possession charges.
Authorities released the baby girl to the custody of the father's family.
