City of Pharr is issuing a boil water notice to their customers after two major waterline breaks caused low pressure in the system.
Authorities told Action 4 News that the breaks were weather-related.
Pharr Public Utilities Department officials are asking residents and businesses to boil tap water to ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes.
The boil water notice applies to all water for drinking, cooking, and making ice.
The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption.
Anyone with questions may contact the Public Utilities Department at (956)787-7951 or (956)787-9772 or (956)702-5335 for questions.
Customer wanting to contact the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regarding concerns are asked to call (512) 239-4691.
