Thousands of pounds of food and hundreds of toys were collected Thursday during our 3rd annual Share Your Christmas campaign.

The day-long food and toy drive was held at three locations including our Action 4 News Studios, the HEB off Paredes Line Road in Brownsville and the HEB Plus in Mission.

People from across the Valley showed the true spirit of the holidays by donating canned goods and or a new, unwrapped toy for the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.   It provides needy children with a present during Christmas.

Sergeant Mark Zimmerman said the toys collected will reach the hands of children who may have been without this holiday season-- if not for the Valley’s support.

"It feels real good... Because they're reaching real deep in their pockets and hearts to give at least 1 toy," said Sgt. Zimmerman.

Large bins filled with donated food outside the Action 4 Studio were hauled away in a Food Bank RGV truck.  Carter Robinson said the donations will help make a dent in the number of families who sadly go hungry each day.

"We seriously couldn't do it without you and feed these people without the way the Valley steps up and helps out," said Robinson.

Action 4 News wants to thank everyone who helped make this year’s Share Your Christmas a huge success.
