A drug smuggling suspect gave a Brownsville family scare when he allegedly tried to use their home as hideout.

Brownsville police said the incident happened along the 2100 block of El Brillo Street in the city’s northwest side.

Police told Action 4 News that Leobardo Banda was trying to run from Border Patrol agents.

Investigators said Banda tried to flee after Border Patrol agents stopped him for allegedly having drugs in a stolen vehicle.

Banda allegedly broke into the home with the family inside but officers were able to arrest him shortly thereafter.
