The Imam for the Islamic Society of Brownsville told Action 4 News Valley Muslims are afraid of repercussions, after Thursday’s attack on soldiers in Fort Hood.

Dr. Zafar Anjum condemned the attack and called it a “horrific incident.” He said the entire community is praying and asking for peace. Anjum also expressed his condolences and said their sympathies go out to the families of those affected by the shooting.

But he also said they are afraid of repercussions for members of the Muslim faith. "This is a very sensitive time and yes we are having some fear of the possible backlash of this incident.”

Dr. Anjum asked Valley residents not to pass judgment on those of Islamic faith, and he urged members of the Muslim community to be vigilant and use caution. He also called for unity amongst the entire community and said that everyone should support each other during this difficult time.
