Three people are behind bars after being involved in a Harlingen shooting where a man was shot in the head.

Harlingen police told Action 4 News that they received reports of gunfire on the 500 block of East Madison Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

The alleged victim was admitted to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

Witnesses told police that a black Mitsubishi Montero fled the scene but officers were able to stop the SUV on a nearby street.

Officers arrested driver Sergio Gonzalez and then tracked down Anabell Longoria and a 16-year-old boy for their alleged roles in the case.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Gonzalez drove Longoria and the boy to confront the gunshot wound victim.

The boy allegedly fired a small-caliber handgun in the direction of the victim.

The man was released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Gonzalez and Longoria remain in custody after appearing before Harlingen Municipal Court Judge Valerie Garcia on Monday morning.

The 16-year-old boy remains in custody at the Darrell Hester Juvenile Detention Center.
