A Tamaulipas man faced a judge after he was allegedly caught smuggling $246,000 dollars worth of cocaine into the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested Victor Hugo Ramirez-Jimenez on federal drug charges on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old Adan Hidalgo, Tamaulipas man entered the United States at the B&M International Bridge in Brownsville in a Chrysler Town & Country.

A K-9 officer allegedly found three packages containing close to eight pounds of cocaine hidden in secret compartment on the car floor.

Ramirez-Jimenez remains in custody after appearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Felix Recio in Brownsville on Thursday morning.
