RIO GRANDE CITY, TEXAS -- Six different drug busts resulted in U.S. Border Patrol Agents seizing more than two tons of marijuana at the Rio Grande City Station.

The most significant seizure went down early Tuesday morning near La Casita.

Border Patrol agents said Wednesday the smugglers loaded a red Chevy 1500 with pot and headed north from the river.

Agents used a spike strip to deflate the truck's tires and the driver ditched the vehicle and ran off into nearby brush.

On Saturday, agents near La Grulla seized 380 pounds of marijuana inside a red Pontiac Grand Prix.

The next day, agents seized 489 pounds of marijuana in Fronton from several men who were hauling around bundles near the river area.

When the agents approached, the smugglers dropped the drugs and swam back to Mexico.

When agents tried to stop the vehicle, the driver hopped out and ran away.

Agents discovered 676 pounds of marijuana in the bed of the truck.

The smugglers dropped the drugs and escaped.
