The Donna Redskins will be without their star running back for the rest of the semester.

Campus police told Action 4 News they linked Jacob Balli and two other seniors to stolen football equipment worth thousands of dollars.

Superintendent Roberto Loredo said the player was arrested on Tuesday following a two-day suspension.

Campus police received a tip that Balli and two others stole scoreboard equipment worth about $10,000 dollars.

Loredo said Balli is facing a felony theft charge and has been placed in the alternative education program.

The other two students allegedly involved are not on the football team  but were also arrested and placed in the alternative education program.

Donna ISD officials are expected to learn on Thursday if the scoreboard equipment will be ready for use in Friday's game.
