A Hidalgo County jury acquitted a man accused of killing a man defending his sister’s honor at a rural Hidalgo County bar.
A fatal shooting took place at "Los Galleros" bar north of Mission near 8 Mile Line and Los Ebanos Road last July.
Oscar Medrano went to the bar to confront his underage sisters for being at the bar.
Demacio Almaguer was accused of stepping in and arguing with Medrano.
Authorities alleged that Almaguer shot and killed Medrano and fleeing the scene.
Investigators told Action 4 News in a previous interview that Almaguer is a suspected gang member whose father owns the bar.
Testimony in Almaguer’s murder trial started last week.
A Hidalgo County jury acquitted him.
