H-E-B stores across the valley are hosting Back-to-School Supply Drives this weekend to supply children with the necessary tools for this upcoming school year.

All of the donations collected will go to the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank’s School Tools Program.

H-E-B was the first to donate $10,000 to get the program started.

“Education is No. 1 with H-E-B. At this point and time with the economy the way it is we know it is very difficult for most families to provide school supplies for their children. We thought it would be a good idea to have these drives to collect items for schools,” says H-E-B employee, Virginia Perez.

The drive will take place from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. this Saturday where there will also be a drawing for an H-E-B goody basket.

The drives will be held at the following locations:  H-E-B Brownsville, 2155 Paredes Line Rd; H-E-B Weslaco, 1004 N. Texas; H-E-B Harlingen, 613 Expressway 83; and H-E-B Mission, 2409 E. Expressway 83.
