McAllen police charge husband, wife with murder

MCALLEN, TEXAS -- Police have a husband and wife in custody accused in the murder of a McAllen man whose body was found dumped in a small ditch.

Police made the gruesome discovery on 8th street Wednesday morning.

They tell Action 4 News, Juan Loera hit Alfredo Caro over the head with a cement landscaping edger and then tried setting him on fire.

The suspect's wife, Brenda Estrada, told police she helped her husband clean up the crime scene and dispose of the body.

Police also say the suspect and victim knew each other.

Estrada was arrested for allegedly tampering with evidence and failure to report a crime. Her bond was set at $30,000.

Loera was charged with murder. His bond was set at $750,000.
