Strike up the band!
Edcouch-Elsa CISD's 8th grade mariachi band brought back the first place trophy Tuesday from Music Fest Orlando.
Music Fest Orlando is an annual competition in Florida for school bands.
The E-ECISD band went up against several bands across the nation, including some others from the Rio Grande Valley, and came out on top.
"The kids are wonderful; they are awesome," said band director Homero Gutierrez. "Not only is it an accomplishment because of this trophy, but it's an accomplishment that we were able to go to Orlando."
"We were really confident that we were going to win but it is still very exciting that we got first place," said band member Meagan Cantu.
