How would you like a brand new Ford F-150 with a boat, motor and trailer?
LOWER LAGUNA MADRE --
Well, if you are the lucky angler to catch one of the tagged redfish recently released into the Lower Laguna Madre you could be driving home in that new truck pulling your new fishing rig.

Bob Brumby of the Coastal Conservation Association or CCA, recently released eight tagged redfish between Port Mansfield and the Rio Grande and another six were set loose between Mansfield and the Land Cut.

"It always amazes me every year how many people catch tagged redfish and they aren't in the Star Tournament and for 20 bucks they could have been driving away with a new boat, motor and trailer" said Brumby.

In honor of the 20th Anniversary of the Annual State of Texas Angler's Rodeo or STAR tournament a record 90 tagged reds have been released statewide, that's 30 more than last year.

"Three down and five to go down here….hope somebody catches that one."

Last year 17 tagged reds were caught state wide, but only three of the anglers were registered for the STAR tournament.  The first five registered fishermen to catch a tagged red will be eligible for the grand prize, and all you have to do is sign up at your local Academy Sports and Outdoors store or register with CCA on line.

"If you fish the saltwater on the Texas coast and you are not a member of CCA, you are missing out."

And you will really be missing out, if you catch one of those tagged redfish and are not signed up for the STAR Tournament.
