MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (AP) -- A man who allegedly led operations in Reynosa, Mexico, for a drug cartel has been arrested.
Authorities believe Sergio Mendoza participated in an unsuccessful plot to free another jailed Zetas leader from Guatemala.
Authorities said they arrested Mendoza after he tried to outrun a police patrol in a stolen truck in Reynosa.
Investigators claimed they found an assault riffle in the truck, along with a stash of marijuana.
