A Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace is under fire for how she handles her truancy court.
County commissioners are meeting on Tuesday to discuss the business practices of Precinct 4 Justide of the Peace Mary Alice Palacios.
But Palacios has received criticism for taking the money and hearing cases from school districts outside her precinct.
Palacios told Action 4 News that she intends to defend her truancy court.
She said truant schoolchildren need to be taught a lesson and that her court has been effective in reaching them.
