BROWNSVILLE -- A man accused of kidnapping a 14 year old girl earlier this week is now facing another charge.
It started late Monday afternoon when a mother claimed her daughter had been taken by two men with masks.
It ended less than 24 hours later with the child being found and the suspect arrested for kidnapping.
Now he's facing new charges.
Brownsville police said that they charged Victor Garcia with sexual assault of a child.
According to authorities, they can't say much about the case because the victim is only 14, but said the alleged kidnapper could be facing second degree felony charges.
Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique of Brownsville Police said, “It'll be a very difficult case to defend against when you're 27 years old and you're having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old."
Action 4 News spoke also with the Police Chief in Primera, and he told us that they're going to go forward with the kidnapping charges.
According to the Chief, they have text messages from Garcia that said he was going to kidnap the child and also left threatening messages to relatives.
The Chief added that they have evidence that Garcia was most likely heading to Mexico after the kidnapping.
Garcia's bond for the new charge of sexual assault has been set at $50,000.
