MCALLEN -- The fastest texter in the country could be in McAllen.

Fifteen-year-old Julio Cantu is on his way to New York City, with his mother, to fight for that title.

The trip was paid for by LG, so that Julio can compete in the U.S. National Texting Championship.

Julio was selected from over 100,000 contestants after he entered a contest that he saw an ad for on TV.

"I guess they're  just going to put up a phrase and I have to write it the way it is before everybody else and there is going to be...I think...three rounds over two days," said Julio Cantu.

First place at the competition takes home $50,000.

A National Texting Champion will be crowned on Tuesday.
